Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Utah State University provides a number of undergraduate degree programs to train potential graduates for careers in teaching and industry. The department supports a strong program in mathematics education producing mathematics and statistics teachers for our public schools. In addition, the department offers degrees in traditional areas of mathematics preparing undergraduate students for opportunities to pursue advanced degrees in mathematics. Students interested in working in industry are able to pursue undergraduate degrees in statistics, applied mathematics, and actuarial science. For students interested in supplementing their knowledge of mathematics and statistics while pursuing the degree programs in other disciplines, the Department of Mathematics offers dual degree programs with physics, computer science, and electrical engineering as well as minors in mathematics that compliment degrees in biology, computer science, and engineering.
