Cost of Living/Housing
Logan and Cache Valley has a cost of living slightly
below both state and national averages. Graduate students live comfortably
with assistantships offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
Housing is plentiful and in easy walking distance of campus; Cache
Valley also has a free bus system. Rentals range from $450-600/month
for a two bedroom apartment near campus. The university also offers:

Outdoor Recreation
Cache Valley is located between the Wellsville mountains and the Bear
River range; two alpine wilderness areas are in sight of the center
of campus. Outdoor recreational opportunities include skiing, hiking,
rock climbing, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, camping, fishing and
hunting. Beaver Mountain ski area is only 20 miles up the Logan Canyon
from USU. Utah State University has one of the best Outdoor Recreation
Centers in the West, offering equipment rentals (skis, boards, packs,
tents), trips, classes and yurts in the nearby mountains with reduced
rates for students.
Indoor Recreation
The Logan cultural community is diverse and supports the Utah Festival
Opera, Old Lyric Repertory Theater Co, Cache Folk and Chamber Music
Societies. USUÆs School of the Arts attracts international Jazz and
Classical musicians. As a Division 1 school USU has athletic events
every weekend, including football, men and womenÆs basketball, volleyball,
soccer and gymnastics. American, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese and
Italian restaurants and bars offer students opportunities to socialize
and relax.
